Where everything in my office is from
Just in case you're looking for some incredibly bland decor tips
This post is originally from my Patreon – I’ll probably be shadow banned for mentioning that name – but I get questions regularly about the bits in my office so said I’d pop this up as a little bonus free post this week.
Thanks for your ongoing support – I genuinely can't ever find the words to express my gratitude and although crying is not something I get up to much, I often consider shedding a tear when I think about how brilliant it is that you're here.
Not to go full internet w*nker on you, but I get a lot of questions about my office. I really do. And someone asked recently if there was a post about my office or how I style it somewhere that she could reference... And that got me thinking: Someone thinks I *planned* the styling of my office. As if it was intentional instead of something that just happened to fall into place thanks to nothing but luck.
I wish the start of this post was all "yeah, so I made a vision board and thought about colour theory and trawled through vintage furniture shops to find..." but alas. I must be honest and say NONE of this was thought through. And if it ended up looking nice, it's because everything was so bland and practical that they just sat well together by fluke.
Sorry about that.
Now, office info. And links!
As you'll see from this picture here, I work on an Apple iMac (one of the new-ish ones) most of the time. I have a black faux leather mouse mat that I got from Amazon (the brand is Tunjilool, here's the link).
My white calculator there is from Kikki K, as is my see-through and gold stapler. I'm not sure either are still available, but a visit to Kikki K online is always a nice idea.
My desk, my lamp and my monitor riser are all from IKEA, as are the frames on the wall. The 'don't rush me' print and the Princess Diana print are both from Fy! and the Vogue covers I just carefully cut from the magazines myself and framed them with IKEA frames. Cheap as chips.
My pink cup was a gift from Andrea and she got it in the bougiest place on earth, the Beverly Hills Hotel. I fully intend to go to REG BEV WILS and get one from there too, and if you don't say REG BEV WILS in the voice of Kit De Luca, I'm not sure we can be friends.
My plants – all fake, I can't be expected to keep myself, a child and a very needy dog alive ANDDD plants? I'm not Bear Grylls – are from IKEA and a garden centre in Malahide, I think it's called the Garden House? And my Tit Jar is from a Penneys event I went to years ago and I can't remember the name of the nice lady who made them, but here's something similar.
I did intentionally colour coordinate my books, of course. I understand there may be consternation around whether they should be A-Zd or organised by genre, but I have to do many things based on synaesthesia and for that reason, colour trumps all.
The Beyonce illustration to the left there in this picture is by Holly Nichols, an illustrator whose work I LOVE. The picture is of Beyonce during her performance of Be Alive for the 2022 Oscars (which was filmed in the city of Compton – she chose not to perform it at the actual Oscars but instead go to the place that inspired the song and the film it was from).
My headphones are these Sony ones that I got on sale for much less than the ones at this link, but I couldn't find them cheaper. I did try.
And lastly, in terms of BITS, my rug that's under my desk is from Jysk and it was about €50 as far as I remember. It's not soft but my god is it durable (and wipedownable).
If you've any questions about my office and what it looks like, let me know. I'm planning to do a video around it when it's tidy and share that here too, and go a bit more into how I use it and how it functions for me.
Until then,
A.
Love this, I'm in the process of setting up a home office so I'll take any inspiration I can. ❤️
