I’d love you to join me.

I’m Aisling. Above is a picture of me and a picture of the tidiest my writing space will ever be.

My goal on Substack is to bring the glossy magazine experience online in a way that doesn’t fight for your attention, talk down to you, or sell! Sell! Sell!

Here, I’ll write my opinions, advice on freelance life, beauty features; I’ll interview interesting people, I’ll respond to comments and I will always endeavour to gently entertain.

I want you to enjoy reading that which interests you, without wondering what the #spon motivation behind something is. This will always be a place where unbiased opinions are shared.

By way of introduction, I’m a writer, editor and podcaster who has spent the last 15 years building my career in women’s magazines and media. Only now, magazines are (barely) surviving rather than thriving, which means it’s increasingly difficult to just write, and not produce click-bait or sob-story headlines to generate revenue.

My Substack is going to be the closest thing I can get to the great magazines of yore. Things you’ll enjoy reading, at your leisure, that will make you think. Things that will help you take a break from the endless doom-scrolling and (poorly made, sales-driven) content you’ve probably become accustomed to.

I’ll write opinion, beauty reviews without ads and features that can help you live a little easier. I’ll made podcast episodes that will entertain and inform, or at the very least not shout at you like some other things on the internet. I will remain unbiased, uninfluenced by advertisers and dedicated to you – the reader – at all times.

In a world of endless free media, where quality and standards and respect for the consumer goes out the window, consider paying for decent writing and podcasts. Consider paying me, specifically. Or whoever. But, you know… I’d love for you to curl up with a bar of chocolate and your debit card and commit to me for a few months.

I won’t try to sell you ANYTHING else – just, you know… myself.

Never miss.

We’re building something here

Be part of a community of people who share your interests (and your interest in paying me to write; everyone goes home happy). You’ll be in a troll-free comments section, you won’t feel the urge to buy things 27 times a day, and I’ll never, ever forget that when I have your attention, it’s my job to teach you or entertain you or get you thinking. Promise.
